Vision and Mission

The Alliance for Addiction Solutions envisions a profound transformation in the treatment of addiction, making nutrient therapy and other modalities for supporting core physical deficits the foundation for recovery. The goal of treatment will no longer be abstinence alone, but also the elimination of cravings and the creation of optimal well-being through biochemical restoration. AAS envisions being a widely utilized and trusted source of information on effective holistic treatments for addictive disorders.

AAS envisions widespread, easily accessible treatment centers where nutrient therapy, acupuncture, exercise, dietary counseling, comprehensive detoxification, identification and correction of allergies, and a broad range of multidisciplinary approaches are readily available.

Beliefs

  • Addiction to substances (such as drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar) and to compulsive behaviors (such as gambling, sex, pornography, and violence) are symptoms of biochemical imbalances caused by a variety of factors, including nutritional, hormonal, neurotransmitter-related, toxicological, psychological, and genetic.
  • Addictive behavior is primarily an attempt to self-medicate abnormal biochemistry.
  • Children and adults with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders, and mental illness are especially at risk of self-medicating with addictive substances or behaviors, or of being addicted to prescription drugs.
  • Targeted nutrients and focused detoxification establishes a healthy biochemistry, resulting in neurotransmitter repair and hormonal balance to optimize recovery.
  • Nutritious food and targeted nutrients are the foundation of a healthy recovery. Their integration with psychological and spiritual treatments creates the ideal program for addressing addictive disorders.

Goals

  • To achieve universal understanding that addictive behaviors are symptoms of biochemical imbalances.
  • To eliminate the concept that relapse is a necessary part of recovery.
  • To establish the premier treatment model with nutrient therapy as the centerpiece of an innovative integration of brain-body energy techniques that address the individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people suffering from addictive disorders.
  • To raise public awareness that “for every drug that benefits a patient, there is a naturally occurring substance that can achieve the same effect.” Pfeiffer’s Law from the work of Dr. Carl C. Pfeiffer, MD, PhD.
  • To address the underlying causes of addiction and not just treat symptoms.
  • To foster prevention model whereby screening for toxicities, nutritional deficiencies, and other biochemical imbalances becomes standard procedure in medical offices and schools.
  • To achieve and document consistently high success rates as defined by long-term abstinence and a zest for life.
  • To provide a multi-level training process for professionals and clinics.
  • To have health insurance policies cover all clinically effective therapeutic modalities.

Plans for our Future Include

  • Develop an online curriculum offering continuing education units for a series of classes from basic nutrition concepts through advanced use of amino acids and auxiliary nutrients for correcting brain chemistry.
  • Plan a National Conference to bring together in person the stars in our field who have the most experience using oral and intravenous nutritional science, acupuncture, and neurofeedback for the treatment of addictive and mental health disorders.
  • Plan a journal to disseminate research in our field of neuronutrition.
  • Create a training process for evaluating individuals and organizations into levels of holistic treatment for addiction.
